Privacy Policy
Privacy written for the product that exists today — browser-based device tests, local processing, optional operational analytics, and support messages.
Privacy at a glance
- Tests request camera or microphone permission only after a direct action from you.
- The service has no user accounts, advertising profiles, or cloud device-history storage.
- Preferences may stay in your browser, and optional analytics are limited to coarse operational events.
- You can contact us to ask about, correct, or delete personal information connected to a support message, subject to legitimate retention needs.
Device test data
Raw audio, video, key, pointer, touch, and gamepad input is processed in the active tab and is not uploaded by XZETO.
Identity data
XZETO does not require a profile and does not keep a cloud history of your device tests.
Operational analytics
A deployment may enable limited first-party events for reliability, without media samples, key values, addresses, or stable device identifiers.
Contact information
Name, email, topic, and message are sent only when you choose to contact support.
What information we process
- Device test input, including microphone audio, camera frames, key events, pointer movement, touch gestures, display observations, and gamepad state, is processed locally in the active browser session.
- Browser preferences include the light or dark theme in localStorage and the selected language in a first-party cookie.
- When operational analytics are enabled, events can include the tool identifier, broad status, browser family, platform family, viewport class, and event time.
- Contact messages can include your optional name, email address, topic, related tool, and the message you submit.
- Hosting and security infrastructure may process ordinary request data such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, and error logs needed to deliver and protect the site.
How we use information
- To run requested browser tests, show results, and clean up active media when a test stops or the page is left.
- To remember theme and language choices on the same browser.
- To understand whether tools load, permissions succeed or fail, and broad compatibility problems when analytics are enabled.
- To answer support, privacy, accessibility, and product feedback messages.
- To prevent abuse, diagnose failures, maintain security, and meet legitimate legal obligations.
Device permissions and local files
Camera and microphone access begins only after you press the relevant start button and approve the browser prompt. Live media is analyzed in the current tab. Stopping a test or leaving its page stops active media tracks where the browser allows cleanup.
Recordings and snapshots use in-memory data or temporary object URLs. They are not stored on an XZETO server and disappear when you delete them or close the session. Files are sent elsewhere only if you choose to download or share them outside XZETO.
The WebRTC test creates a temporary local peer connection only after consent and summarizes ICE candidate types without displaying or saving candidate addresses.
When information may be shared
- Hosting, security, analytics, and contact-delivery providers may process the limited information needed to perform their configured role.
- Professional advisers, regulators, or law enforcement may receive information when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect XZETO, its users, or the public.
- XZETO does not sell personal information or raw device test content, and it does not provide data to advertising networks.
Retention, security, and international processing
Local test state normally ends when you reset a tool, delete a temporary recording, or close the tab. Theme and language preferences remain until you clear or replace them.
Contact messages, delivery records, operational events, and security logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed for support, reliability, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or dispute handling, then deleted or minimized.
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Depending on the configured infrastructure, limited data may be processed in more than one country or region.
Your choices and requests
- Deny or revoke camera and microphone permissions in browser settings.
- Stop a running test, delete temporary media, reset the tool, or close the tab.
- Clear localStorage and cookies to remove saved theme and language preferences.
- Ask to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with a contact message, subject to legal and security retention needs.
Children's privacy
XZETO is a general device-testing utility and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the contact form, contact us so the request can be reviewed.
Privacy contact
XZETO is independently built and maintained by Tom Mcfly. For privacy questions or data requests, email support or use the contact page and choose Privacy question.
